Without a doubt Ross and Rachel were the ultimate Will They, Won't They couple on TV. Throughout the entire run of Friends, audiences were enamored with Ross and Rachels journey, waiting to see if they would end up together. Which is why in Season 8 when Joey and Rachel started to get together, fans of Friends were immediately turned off by the ( Read more... )

The intensity that people hate Rachel and Joey always confuses me because that storyline barely lasted at all and they were cute enough together. Friends developing feelings over time is sweet to me.

But I don't actually care that much other than being a certified Ross/Rachel hater lmfao

for me they had negative chemistry and after having goofy BFF energy for so many seasons it felt like watching siblings make out. I just fast forward through all those scenes.

The unrequited bit in S8 was sweet enough, gave Joey some depth and played out the way it should, they just should have left it there. Rachel suddenly getting the hots for Joey in S9, losing several IQ points and them awkwardly fumbling around for a few episodes...no thanks to all of that.

The writers dumbed down Rachel to match Joey and it was really annoying. Imagine early seasons Rachel laughing like a child at the word homo.

I've never seen an episode of Friends. Or The Office.

If they'd gotten together early on in the show's run it could've worked but by the end Joey had been so dumbed down that they started dumbing down Rachel to make them seem more compatible as a couple. Although that storyline did give us "I'm fine" Ross so it wasn't a total bust.

I didn't really like any of the couples on the show tbh. I thought they were all better as ~friends.

I liked the unrequited feelings for a friend angle that they approached it from (on both sides) but ultimately I truly believe that Rachel deserved to be with someone *not* from the Friends group. Joey was originally way too creepy and treated women horribly and then they morphed him into a lovable idiot. My hatred for Ross (rivaled only by my hatred for Owen Hunt) is fueled by his nice guy prickishness and I thought that Rachel, who had had a pretty decent story arc, deserved better or at least different.

Oh yeah, Gavin was solid. I'd pick him over Ross any day

Yess, he was a mature pick for her. I was sad he never made a reappearance.
