it does stem from jealousy because s3 did so well and was publicized more than all the other seasons but is that the actors' fault? it's not like nicola and luke were like 'YEAH WE WANNA PROMOTE THIS SHIT ALL OVER THE WORLD, BOOK THIS FOR US NOW!!' like a bunch of diva veruca salts. point the fingers at netflix, they're the ones who had these two do an insane five-month promo tour, like i bet they enjoyed it but shit they probably wanted to go and act in other shit too, it took a huge chunk out of their year

I see a lot of Nic and Luke hate on Twitter (though mainly Luke) and I'm like why??? They seem really lovely in all of the press. It's ridiculous and it comes from all the other ships. I rarely see Kanthony fans fighting Benophies. It's crazy

As some people in the comments have already said, it comes a lot from resentment, because their season was moved up. If they had followed the books, Benedict’s season should have been s3. The s3 announcement was hell for everyone involved in the fandom and Nicola had to post a story on instagram to say she didn’t have a say regarding the order of the seasons. There’s also the fact that S2 didn’t get a lot of promo compared to S3. So, some people took their frustration out on Nicola and Luke. And I know this might seem weird, but because they’re the only white couple so far, the fandom (not the general audience) think it’s fair game and that they don’t need protection. From calling Nicola a narcissist because of her bubbly personality, the fatphobic comments and the slender from those two tumblr accounts, to making fun of Luke’s dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety and his looks. It just hasn’t been great in the fandom since the s3 announcement.

I’m honestly so torn because I love Sophie so much. I honestly do not care about show!Benedict so far, but I have no idea how they’re going to make this season considering what the “offer from a gentleman” really is about. They said it would be the season that’s closest to the books, and to me it’s not a good thing.

I haven't read the books but I've heard about book!Benedict and um... ??!?!?! I sincerely hope they change the story cuz it's not great.

Yes! Honestly the male characters in the books are not good (they’re all abusive at some point.) Same for Daphne. I just don’t understand how they’re going to make “An Offer From a Gentleman” work, considering what the offer is in the book. And while I wish they’d just retcon the book, they said it would be the closest adaptation.
