i was really expecting to be obsessed with this but it's too minimalist/one-note for me :-( ... i was anticipating a bigger final chorus but it was more of the same, like i almost wished the song was shorter because i got bored. i can see what itch is scratches for others though.
the ep is decent, their best release since 'my world' for me. 'flights, not feelings' is my standout track by far. my main issue with aespa has been their lack of consistency throughout their albums and this doesn't change that. like the creative team always has such a precise and conceptually strong vision for their title tracks, but the albums themselves are just more or less the same stuff any sm group releases. it annoys me that they never commit to the concept from start to finish. i feel like this was never as glaring with red velvet or f(x).
Right??? I think it might be my favourite b-side of all time from them. I hope they do more with this sound, it's scratching an itch I didn't know I had. (The backing track also sort of reminds me of LE SSERAFIM's "Impurities", so now I'm really curious as to what "Impurities" would have sounded like had aespa received it.)
