I watched this movie last night and enjoyed it but the pacing was really weird.

I said this in the box office post a few hours ago, but I looved the movie. I'm not huge on true crime dramatizations, but she did such a good job in terms of showing the violence while also paying respect to the victims. The scariest parts of the movie were the build up to what happened, honestly. Like, the moment he drops the act? Woof.

The trauma response of finally letting all out with a plumber is so real. My breakdown and ask for help was with a college advisor who just asked why my test scores dropped so badly in 1 semester. They were not ready for that answer but were very kind and called the on campus crisis center and within hours everything changed. I hope the plumber was kind.

I found the structure a little jarring at first, but overall I really liked the movie. Framing his crimes against all the many levels of '70s sexism, like jumping right from the first murder to "I just don't think she's sympathetic, she seems angry" was very effective. And I liked that his victims got to have personalities and inner lives, even if only briefly. (And not for nothing, it's very cool that she cast an actor with a visible disability without having it impact the plot, she was just a person with a story.)

I enjoyed the movie - except for the made up questions during the game show they added. Sort of took me out of it being set in the 70s. Daniel Zovatto did such a great job imo.
