I just looked it up and Coldplay have been a band since 1997 and that kind of blows my mind. I mean the band survived a Goop marriage

I think they know what kind of bands they are and have no illusion about being some great band who constantly comes out with experimental sounds, and then get depress if they don't receive critical acclaims.

Or at least, that's what I thought when I saw an interview of theirs years ago. They joked that they would not have gotten gfs if they were not in a band. They were not "cool" dudes. Being in a band made them seem cool.

I played A Rush of Blood to the Head on repeat when it first came out, but I haven't really followed them since. they're decent background music while browsing a store, but I don't find much of their music since that album compelling. still, my adoration for that first one means I do feel happy to see they're doing well.

This post made me listen to the album and meh? They feel like Pink - many people go to the shows and it's pleasant enough but nothing stands out.
