Goddamn, what an episode. I seriously want Cristin to win some shit for this show. At first I was kinda disappointed [Spoiler (click to open)]at the idea that she wasn't the Hangman -- I like fictional female psychos, what can I say -- but the way it plays out was at least as chilling. Tying it back into Maria Kyle's death was really smart (though I was surprised she wasn't mentioned), as was the detail about Kenzie the crooked cop. So now they made her into the villain they claimed she always was! And they all deserved those Midsommar deaths tbh. RIP Max Medina.
I'm surprised she found out Oz killed Alberto already, I thought that would be dragged out longer. But I love that this show keeps doing that and genuinely raising the stakes.
This show has no business being as good as it is. I haven't enjoyed an unnecessary IP spinoff series this much since Andor.
I really hope Colin and Cristin are recognized for their work, they're both incredible. Sofia's journey in this episode... the RANGE omg. The Arkham scenes were terrifying and I can't tell if Dr. Juice is to be trusted or not - it's a really unsettling performance. And I really didn't expect her to find out that Oz killed Alberto so soon, or for almost all of the Falcones to be wiped out already. I have no idea where the show is going! I love that!
My only gripe is that they couldn't get John Turturro back to play Carmine. He was a lot more menacing in the role.
Turturro was filming another series at the time. I think Mark's good, and this was ten years earlier than The Batman. Turturro would have also been great, tho.
This episode was especially outstanding, but the whole series is fantastic.
