read the whole book today since my offices were closed for indigenous peoples day and it took my breath away. it's heartbreaking to know how little this woman thought of herself. her music helped me through so much as a teenager.

I know, it made me so sad to know she didn't think she was beautiful (only to have Danny remember how beautiful he found her) and she didn't seem to be especially proud of her music career, which was a shame because her music- to me- was fantastic.

I didn't know the sexual abuse started that young. Poor girl. The 70s were a nightmare for young girls/women, so glad I missed them. :/
