A relationship takes so much energy, I rather spend it on something else. I see my married friends or the ones who've been in long term relationships and I'm terrified of ending up like them. Of my age group, just one couple I know seems to have a true partnership/connection and be genuinely happy.

Most of the time, they don't.
I know that being a couple requires compromise but they're always doing stuff they don't want to do, and is mostly the women. They also seem to be raising the men instead of sharing a life with them.

My cat has been gone for two years now and he's still the love of my life, at this point.

Sometimes I look at shelter listings--a new experience because most of my cats have just arrived one day--and I realize I'm looking I'm just looking for my cat in their faces, so I just exit. I'm hopeful to be in a better place physically and financially next year so I can foster.

i'm on a work trip till the end of the month and i miss my cats like crazy :( my friends are taking care of them and taking turns so they get daily visits but this is the first time i'm away from them this long after moving alone with them. LOVE HURTS.

If I recall she said that when she went to the shelter to look at cats they had a sign that said something like; "Just broke up with someone? Get a cat heal your heart." And since she did break up with her boyfriend a few weeks before that, she figured that was a sign (no pun intended) to get a cat.

Girl, same. Every time I travel I spend half the time missing/worrying about my babies (two dogs and two cats).
There's a possibility next year my work will send me to France for a while and I'm dreading it. I would love to take them with me even though I have no idea how. Leave them with someone here would be the easier choice, but it would break my heart.
