idk summer festivals are a big thing where I live, paid and free, and they always look packed, most are sold out too afaik and they just started a new one this year, I thought it was too much tbh there are so many from June until Sept, there’s literally NO weekend without at least one festival happening and I can see the prices are getting higher and higher, not sure how they’re gonna keep all that

there’s a big one during winter too that happens even if it’s -30°C outside, I don’t think they are sold out as easily as the ones during summer unless it’s a big name playing tho

I think part of it is the entire cost of attending a festival. A significant portion of attendees are not locals so it’s not just the cost of a festival pass, it’s everything else too.

I went to Coachella this year as cheap as possible and it was still over $2k for everything. Granted, Coachella is an expensive one. Lollapalooza with my sister last year was not as expensive.

Also, I just have to say that Coachella is boring as fuuuuuck until about 6pm if you’re doing the camping… 😮‍💨 Good luck if you don’t drink or do drugs to pass the time lmao

I wish they were more accessable. Like I'm old, my back hurts. I dont want to stand for hours. Have seating. And less dirty.

When I was 14 my aunt accompanied me to a festival and spent the entire time hanging out on a picnic blanket waaaay far from the stage. I'm so in awe that she did but I agree, there should be areas of seating for people who don't want to stand.

I like that at least modern festivals have big video screens so you can see the performers from far away. I was so hyped up that day I basically spent the entire day 15 feet from the barrier.

there's a festival a couple hours away from me that we considered going to, until we realized we could just see the bands that we're interested in when they do their own tours around festival dates. wayyyyy easier this way lol

We’re in the downturn after the post covid restart boom. People were willing to spend obscene amounts of money for a while bc everyone was desperate for live events again but now everyone is broke and no longer willing to spend those prices. Tours like Eras and Coldplay skew the actually numbers of the touring scene right now to be honest and everyone can point to them and say things are still rolling like they were in 2022 when they haven’t been for a minute
