Unfortunately if I am to die of breast cancer, I will die of breast cancer, because not even the possibility of dying (which honestly I don't really care about either) can convince me to go through a mammogram. If and only if one day medicine comes up with a less torturous way of diagnosing this cancer, then I'll make sure to do it. I don't think that will happen in my lifetime though.

They're not that terrible. Probably a lot less uncomfortable than cancer itself, and they kept having to go back and back for more images with mine since my boobs are so lumpy. Ultrasounds are actually more effective for younger women but you usually have to get a mammogram before insurance will cover an ultrasound.

One of my college classmates recently passed away from BRCA-2 breast cancer and it was brutal. The radiation broke her sternum.

please find an alternative, like ultrasound. chemo is absolute, complete and utter hell.

I've had multiple mammograms and I've never found them painful? Mostly just awkward. I wouldn't even say they're very uncomfortable tbh. But everyone's experience is different.

You can also get ultrasounds!
