I appreciated I’m not there because they tried to do something different, but I don’t really like biopics in general.

I've come to find that the biographical dramas I like best aren't the ones that try to capture a person's life in its totality and make some grand statement, because they tend to become unwieldy and veer into parody. What I like instead is a film that tries to draw a sketch of this particular person in a singular, pivotal moment of their life. I'm thinking of films like La Reine Margot or Camille Claudel (Isabelle Adjani is the queen of historical drama). Or Motorcycle Diaries, for a more relatively recent example.

this doesn't look bad but idk how it will play. if the main tension in the film revolves around his relationship with baez/fanning's characters, revealing his political views and making protest songs for the time, and his being a 'rebel' by playing electric guitar as a 'folk' singer/songwriter all things that seem so...mundane and not at all revolutionary now, how will they keep the audience's interest?
