Mad respect to John; sometimes you have to know when the party's over and it's time to go, and he did. The other person who went home was a no-brainer because they kept making absentminded mistakes; how do you put 500mg of butter in a recipe that only required 250mg?
I thought she got lucky last week when there was a non-elimination due to Jeff's illness because she was definitely in the bottom. She did terribly again this week so I am glad she was sent home. It would have been really unfair for her to do so badly two weeks in a row and keep getting reprieves due to another baker being sick.
I was hoping that Jeff would voluntarily drop out instead of making the producers do it for him. I hope he feels better, but obviously you can't miss four out of six challenges in two episodes and think it's fair to everyone else to stay.
So happy for Sumayah! Her swans in the signature were unique and beautiful. Her duck in last week's showstopper was amazing (and didn't require 300 individual feathers like Georgie's chicken) so she seems consistently creative.
Dylan had a really strong showing the first week so I hope that he was just having a bad weekend for biscuit week and can recover next week. I have liked his flavor choices in the first two weeks and I would love to see more from him. Same goes for Illiyin - she did great last week but she seemed to have some issues this week (aside from fainting). I like her flavors and ideas so I hope she can pull it together because I want to see more of her creations.
Christiian also has some unique flavor combinations but I think it's a matter of time before Paul decides to eliminate him. For someone who is a culinary professional, Paul is pretty close-minded about flavors and he's made it clear that he tends to have a very British palate. I love that Christiian is the type of baker who isn't going with the traditional
