The topic of abuse around Sauron is astouningly well done. There's a circle of darkness that keeps leeking from everywhere and yyou can't exactly pinpoint it at first but the more Cerebrimbor, Adar and Annatar talks and the more obvious it gets. Good intentions under false promises is at core here. Even for Sauron and that line from Cerebrimbor "you truly are the deceiver you even deceive yourself" ? Masterpiece. It feels hautingly dark in a way that only pure trauma can explain. " Pain almost became a reward" And yet, no one ever makes Sauron anything other than he truly is : darkness. He ciuld have chosen light, opportunities were on his road but he didn't and it truly makes Cerebrimbor's speech even more emotional imo ;_;
Sorry for the rant omg i have lots of feelings for that episode :D
While most of the focus this ep was (rightly) on everything happening in Eregion, the stuff with Durin this ep absolutely gutted me. Elrond's utter faith and belief in him but then like, Durin being unable to come because his father is killing their own people, being driven to madness by the ring? ROUGH.
I can't believe next week is the finale. I really hope there's less wait for season 3 than there was for season 2.
The wait will probably be longer because they haven't even finished writing the scripts yet. When season 1 had finished airing they had already filmed two episodes of season two. So it's probably going to be an early 2027 release.
Took me a while to get used to the scale of the battle, because I just kept thinking how difficult it must be to shoot it in a way that wouldn't immediately remind somebody of the Peter Jackson films but they did a really good adding their own touch. The CGI was especially impressive. Though I do hope at some point there's another battle like in the pilot where it was complete epic fantasy battle overload with like eagles fighting above and such. I know that was just a few seconds long, but with the money they're throwing at this thing one can wish.
I don't know how they're going to bring all the other ends together with just one more episode, I'm assuming it will be another long one...but yeah, what an improvement from season 1, and Charles Edward gave an incredible performance.

I think for now Amazon will stick with altering seasons of Wheel of Time and Rings of Power each year.
