I think it's that most people are stupid and overestimate their abilities to coordinate massive events like this.

That said one of my uncles was a legit event scammer. He worked a Santana concert and then stole the money (the event actually did happen he scammed Santana and his band).

Out of all things she offers for entertainment, why did they go with stripping?
It was probably the cheapest one. The silks thing would be hard to set up too.

Not really. It's a rig, and she either does it herself, or works with somebody who does. I also get pleasant circus performer vibes from her more than stripping ones, so why the hell.
