i loooove this song & vid… it’s so crazy it was directed by the guy who did 4/5 of the hunger games movies (2/4 of which are great IMO)

I’m not too familiar with her live performances, because I don’t find lip-syncing to be interesting to watch and when I have heard her live, she sounds like she doesn’t have proper vocal training.

Having said that, she’s still a great dancer and has a ton of charisma. I feel like she could sing well live, if only she practiced more and didn’t do that weird thing she does when she sings.

I don’t think anyone here claims she’s a great singer live, especially since she doesn’t sing live much (if at all) lol.

We all know she’s not a singer 😅 But her live performances from that era were great!

I was obsessed with Making the Video, the episode for S4U was pretty good:

Wow was this filmed on actual film? Cool if that's the case.

I WATCHED THIS IN 2001! I feel like no one doing making the video reboot is a huge hole in music

Although Brian Friedman and Wade Robson always get the credit for choreographing this video, Mayte Garcia (who was married to Prince) was the one who did the iconic bellydancing section that everyone learned in their living rooms.

The fact that it wasn't:

#1 on billboard
VMA winner
Vma iconic performance nominated

All the things.

It's always weird for me when I look up a song on Wikipedia and learn that even though I think it's iconic, it didn't chart well (another example is Cool by Gwen Stefani).
