I have a few other celebs I'd prefer to suddenly know everything about, but eh, at the same time, let me have my fantasy.

Oh good, another round of people acting like there’s a better option than voting for Kamala right now.

I fully support her not wanting to endorse Kamala for the record. No one is saying Kamala or the dems are the BEST option but it’s what we got.

Apparently I'm selfish for voting for the candidate that won't actively try to take away my right to an abortion (and exist, as a queer person).

omg I want to take her phone away (for her own health and sanity)

I feel real bad that she's getting this brunt of pushback and I feel bad that she feels that she has to address it all

I don't think it's so much like that, it's more because she made the mistake of saying "both sides are problematic" cause that's usually code for voting republican which is what started this mess. Doesn't help that she had mentioned leaving politics at the door when visiting her conservative family.

She should've just said I'm voting for Kamala but I'm not exactly relieved by it because I have xyz issues and then if she wanted she could've linked orgs for funds of said issues. That would've cut down a good chunk of time and energy.

I mean but really what's the point? It feels like we're asking her to show us her ballot on voting day. If you follow chappell enough to nitpick her words, you should also be able to follow her actions which have been uplifting drag performers, uplifting queer folks, supporting palestinian rights with her money, actual work that we on the daily here talk about putting your money where your mouth is. She declined a white house attendance and participated in pride celebrations in more meaningful ways.

She obviously is making a tangible impact with her actions. Is the answer to just harrass her until she words things in exactly the way ONTD expects her to?

Listen I get it, the "both sides" argument is used too often in hurtful ways to hide your politics. But I think it's somewhat obvious that;s not what's going on here.

I wish people didn't rely so heavily on celebrities for political/activism impact.

It's damn election year. How can Americans not be able to pressure their "left" candidate into making promises regarding the Palestinian genocide?

It would be interesting to hear conditioned support, like "I'm voting X, but I hope to see they work harder on..."

But in my country's election I was so scared about the right winning that anyone not being 100% supportive of the left candidate felt like an enemy, so I guess I get it.

The electoral college ruins so many things and one of those things is situations like this. We don't have a pure popular vote to decide the president. Running up the numbers in left leaning states doesn't mean shit when it comes to winning.

So like... if you wanna win, you gotta pander to swing states. In this case, a harsher stance on Israel would def help in one or two of the swing states (Michigan maybe also Minnesota) but it could hurt in several other swing states that Kamala needs in order to win (North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania). So like the election calculus means pledging to stop sending arms to Israel isn't gonna help her win so she's not gonna do it.

IT'S STUPID. I HATE IT.

But it's just the reality of our electoral system.

It seems like a very complex system that I never fully understood.

I feel like people should push for changes to the entire voting system, especially to allow more room for multipartyism.

However, I understand that during the campaign the best thing people can focus on is working so that the worst candidate doesn't win.

People have been pushing to eliminate the electoral college for decades. It's unfortunately not something that can be repealed so easily.
