I don’t understand this quote and how it squares with the central messages and themes of this film. I get that he casted Jon Voight and that’s probably what he is alluding to when he says that he wanted to cast people who disagree politically. But the film itself is very political, isn’t it?

For the longest time, I thought this was supposed to be a remake / interpretation of "Metropolis" (Fritz Lang, 1927) and a bit huffy that he thinks he can beat that cinematic monolith. And with the name of this film, the surrounding narrative of it being gargantuan, decades in the making, FFC's life dream, expected to never could be made after all... it made sense. Now I read the summary, and it's something completely different, that honestly sounds pretty uninspired, oops. Am I the only one who hallucinated a Metropolis/Megalopolis resemblance, or was it calculated marketing? lol

We've seen all three of these men on Q&A panels before, but as soon as we saw it was all three of them together, my husband was like "oh boy" under his breath. Chaotic group! Robert DeNiro's ability to bring up Trump in literally any Q&A he does is genuinely incredible. And you definitely want Spike Lee as your hype man, because he is passionate as fuck, but he has a hard time keeping a train of thought. I'd love to sit in on one of his NYU classes, lol.
At so many points during this movie, I thought that Aubrey Plaza was [Spoiler (click to open)]channeling Janet Snakehole, and the way she's dressed here kind of confirms intentionality with that. Definitely recommend seeing her other movie in theaters right now - My Old Ass - over this one!
