If it helps, I've been following the reviews for the Ralph Fiennes Odyssey movie coming out in December and most of them cite half-naked oiled-up gym rats, so if this doesn't provide meaty thighs, that one might.

Finally Oscar Season is giving us what we want.

Too bad the reviews also say it's mostly just people men standing around talking LMAO.

At least Ralph Fiennes also does full frontal in the movie. Marwan Kenzari is the main antagonist which has my interest piqued, and he is one of the oiled-up gym rats so yes please. But so far the only promo photos are Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche (it's an English Patient/Wuthering Heights reunion but make it ancient Greece). And apparently there is no explanation for everyone having randomly different accents. LBR with the meh reviews, people aren't gonna be seeing it for the acting, give us the half-naked gym rats.

The first trailer was better - this one gave too much away and needed more Denzel.

This looks like pure big budget, VFX cheese but hopefully the acting talents of the insane cast will keep it somewhat grounded.

Just what we need come November. Testosterone, rage and extreme violence. Bless us, every one.

See my comment above about the other ancient history half-naked men movie coming out in December two weeks after this lmao. It's the year that keeps on giving!

I'm very curious about this one. I just watched this director's last film Nowhere Special which is about as different from The Return as I can imagine.

I haven't seen any of his other movies tbh. The reviews are meh, but like, I was never interested in it for the story.

https://www.metacritic.com/movie/the-return-2024/ 65 on Metacritic isn't bad, though.

gladiator is one the few movies that back in the day if it was ok tv i was like welp there goes my afternoon and i had to watch it.

but now i don't have cable so i won't come across it 'in the wild' and i can't muster enough strength to watch it because it emotionally wrecks me every time
