Season 1 of American Horror Story quickly became one of the most talked about shows on TV. It developed a cult following, and fans everywhere were ecstatic to see what Ryan Murphy had in store for future installments of American Horror Story. Though as more seasons would come out, fans became less and less intrigued by Ryan Murphys attempts at ( Read more... )

There's nothing "horror" about AHS anymore.

To go from the calibre of Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson to...Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian?

Talk about a downfall. I can barely make it through a season anymore.

The horror is the jumbled plotlines and bad acting

This is the first season I have yet to finish.

And surprisingly, no, it had nothing to do with Kim Kardashian.

I honestly thought she was pretty okay, really. A bit wooden, sure, but I give her props because I couldn't do that shit. (Nor could I stand to be around Kanye, build a weird cement prison, have his children and stay in said weird cement prison.) But I digress.

I stopped watching mainly because they chopped it into 2 parts and I lost interest in between.

I haven't truly loved a season of this show ever, really. It was never scary. I did enjoy the second season more than the first. And the third was better than both of them.

I just want to be entertained for a bit. This show was never as good as people hype it up to be. But it has gotten worse but then okay again. And then bad. And then... okay? 🤔 😆

I just want to know why he can give us so many seasons of AHS but refuses to give us a Coven spin-off.

The one season that has great lore and they cant reboot it and just start over and go full throttle?

Seasons 1-4 and season 6 are the only good ones in my opinion. I'd only watch AHS:Cult for Evan's performance. The rest just don't do it for me, especially the last two seasons.

To be honest once Jessica Lange left it went downhill.

Agreed. I did mostly enjoy AHS: Apocalypse as well, but only because they brought the witches back.

Ugh this man. He can come up with great concept ideas for a single episode, but doesn’t have the ability to make it last a full season.

Season 1 was so much fun, but it did stop being scary once every ghost had a backstory. I thought season 2 was gross at the time so I didn’t make it far. Love season 3. Very campy and stupid which helped overlook the typical Murphy plot falling apart. Stopped watching during the circus one!

I think he very specifically always introduces 1 element too much. otherwise I think he carries it through fine with a satisfying ending, but asylum fex would have been great if it had just been Satan and a serial killer. Aliens was that one thing that tipped it. s1 was great when it was Ghosts and a complicated family. the antichrist was too much. its annoying that theres always one plotline just fucking it up.

I bailed halfway through Hotel and the only other seasons I’ve bothered with since have been the 80s one and the AIDS one. I actually quite liked both of those - they were still a bit all over the place but more cohesive than Murphy usually is. My favourite seasons are Asylum and the one with the freak show.

Having said that, given how willing Murphy is to exploit the victims of real life crimes, I doubt I will ever watch another of his shows. He’s a deeply shitty person and I don’t want to give him any more of my attention.

I finally freed myself of AHS after the first half of Double Feature and have had no interest in returning to it. There were lots of great actors and performances in those earlier days, but since we've dropped to the likes of Kim K...and echoing what was said above--Ryan Murphy can come up with a good concept, but he just can't carry a full season with it.

My favorite is probably Hotel. I'm aware it's not considered one of the better seasons, but I like the atmosphere and I think Evan Peters' performance did a lot of heavy lifting (for me at least).
