The fact he had to explain this when it was obvious. People are ridiculous. The public is literally the National Enquirer 😂

I used to work in 2 different factories, I would buy the Sony earphones, cut the strings off and wear the ear piece parts as earplugs so people wouldn't think I was listening to music. The non-round shape of these earphones fit my small ear and were more comfortable. This was before smaller wireless earbuds were more common. But people probably accused me of listening to music if I wear them.

My co-worker has hearing impairment now because she used to work in a loud place for 3 months. Some nerve in one ear got damaged.

My hearing was not the sharpest even before working at the factories, I think years of having to listen to loud music while working in retail might have contributed to it

My partner has had noticeable hearing loss since he was in his 30s. It was a combination of working at concerts and listening to music on his daily train commute (meaning he had the volume turned way up so he could hear the music over the loud train noise). I wish more people would take protecting their hearing more seriously. When he finally got hearing aids, he immediately texted me to ask, "Is everything normally this loud?" because he had gotten so accustomed to the hearing loss he had.

Glad to hear that the hearing aid help his hearing.

I'm also the type who used to listen to really loud music with earphones, especially when I'm in the mall/, grocery stores. There were a few days were I heard static noise. I have stopped listening to music with earphones now for almost 4-5 years and going. I realize I shut myself off with music and my mind is not present in my surroundings.

The music in Jimmy Johns & Five Guys is SO loud that I'd bet people who work there have hearing issues. But the CEOs (or some C-level person) insists on having the music that loud to "keep the energy up."
