Now, ma'am, there weren't any visuals during Renaissance either...

She... she mentioned that. Both albums were asked about in the same sentence!

It is the first question she answered in the post!!!!!

Yep, the cover is awful. I'm not sure I like the styling either. And the direction... She's an icon, the need for sexual poses all the time depresses me.

thank you! this is too crass for her (or anyone, but esp her)

also, someone of her status being directed to leave her mouth open in that way...I mean, come ON.

"n. Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music"

I would argue a good music video can enhance a song. There's been a few times where I was meh on a single but then the music video came and changed my mind.

I love the music but the lack of visuals is a letdown and honestly a missed opportunity. But she really wants to lean into that artiste~ image, she's always been after it.

the serious artiste image is the reason that she survived as a pop star into her 40s, despite the fact that the pop industry is very ageist. her peers who couldn’t rebrand like her aren’t still getting #1s like her…

(i wanted Shakira to follow Beyoncé’s direction instead of trend chasing, but instead we got trend chasing and collabs with whoever was hot at the time! smh. it’s not too late Shaki…)

but the thing she’s saying about the lack of visuals doesn’t have anything to do with her serious artiste image, it’s just PR speak for she didn’t like the visuals she filmed and she scrapped them 🤣

I think Shakira will be fine but it was funny seeing her trend-chase. I'm not against it cause it was probably smart since she had been 7 years since her last album so I get her testing the waters. Granted if she were to keep that up then yeah for the next album.....we got issues.

I've just never been convinced by Beyonce's artiste~ enigma vibe just cause I know she's not really like that lol. But it has been paying off for her.

You think she scrapped them?

In my wildest dreams Shakira sits down and makes her Limonada!

Yeah, it’s pretty funny to read or watch her old interviews and Beyoncé is just goofing around in them, then compare with the artiste enigma vibe of now lol. But it paid off so she has no reason to change direction.

Yeah I do. Last time I checked in on Beyhive Twitter like… a year or so ago now… she had been seen filming on multiple occasions. Someone with a friend on a bike knew a person who had been working on them so whatever she filmed made it to post-production. But nothing ever came of them. They definitely existed but if she never released them and she’s now saying this, she must have scrapped them.
