I couldn’t care less what ethnicity the actors are - it’s just that it’s going to be so jarring to see completely new people play these characters that are still so visually fresh in our minds from the movies!

I feel so sorry for the kids that get these roles because not only are they likely to have pushy stage parents, but they're also probably going to be huge Harry Potter fans, too. That's a lethal combination.

The original trio all seem to have emerged from the movies relatively unscathed despite a few bumpy years though so maybe there's hope.

Yeah it's interesting. The Harry Potter Series was popular, but it wasn't a worldwide phenomenon until after the movies. This is already as big as it's ever going to get. You already know it's going to be big.

Harry Potter was definitely a worldwide phenomenon before the movies. I remember the mad excitement to get The Goblet of Fire ,that was published in 2000. The first Harry Potter movie didn't come out until 2001.

Also making the cast diverse can only go so far when any canon poc is a ridiculous caricature of that race/culture.
