I also really liked Vox Lux, and was surprised it didn't do better with awards bodies when it came out.

I want to show it to my husband now that this movie is coming out, but I am not looking forward to [Spoiler (click to open)]sitting through the opening scene again, that was extremely fucking intense.

[Spoiler (click to open)]I was a teacher when I watched this movie and that opening scene gave me a bit of a work phobia for a good while.

Guys, you know nobody is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to watch long movies? Some people actually like them.

Also, everyone saying Best Actor this year will basically just be a recreation of The Grand Budapest Hotel (Ralph Fiennes vs. Adrian Brody, who were enemies in it) is just funny.

they really botchered the Sing Sing release, no clue what went wrong there

It came out and nobody even noticed! It's like they were trying to do some EEAAO word of mouth thing, but it's just not anywhere near the same category of movie. It makes me question A24's marketing department, or if someone secretly wanted that movie to fail.

also that movie took some time to get going and had a totally different cast at some point:

IDK why, but I irrationally dislike Joel Edgerton, so I am fine with him being recast.

I rationally dislike Joel Edgerton bc he wrote and directed a movie where his character's revenge against his former bully was to rape and impregnate his wife and leave him wondering if his son is his or not.

Yeah, that helps solidify my decisions LOL. Also, he's just such a MEDIOCRE actor and writer and director. It's just baffling he got to where he is.
