I don’t think he understands the point of using trigger warnings.

Probably because today people would put trigger warnings before the Smurfs.

For real, this man is painfully ugly.

I can understand the thought that we're trending towards not showcasing difficult material and dumbing down our content. But that has nothing to do with trigger warnings you dolt.

I mean what’s the difference between trigger warnings and the rating system. Most adult shows on tv will having a warning saying “this show has scenes of violence or sexual situations not suitable for young audiences” before the intro comes on.

Doesn’t exactly ruin the show for me.

Yeah, and these are the only warnings I've ever seen before a show or movie (on streaming.) I like knowing if a sex scene or graphic violence is coming. Like, I could have used a gun violence warning for the show Pieces of Her. Anyway, it's nothing new....

while I agree I think some trigger warnings can definitely be too spoilery, like animal torture or suicide for example. some TWs are quite specific so i think using general things (like graphic/heavily implied violence) would probably suffice.

I'm a little bit torn on this.

I 100% why they are useful.

At the same, I'd be annoyed if a trigger warning before the a film / tv show gave away the plot twist or core of the story.

However, I guess my annoyance is not as important as a survivor of [blank] or someone who's overcome [blank] not being triggered or retraumatized.
