I think he’s always been a babe. He & John slattery have always had that distinguished daddy look.

He was gorgeous. I was just watching him in Breathless the other night and damn he was a hottie. He was gorgeous in American Gigolo too. I would've ridden that like Space Mountain (RIP). I liked him even more when I saw his birthmark since I have a cafe au lait one on my shoulder too like he does. I used to get made fun of for it too as a kid.

I've watched it a million time mostly due to my age and it always being on tv for some reason, but I never really connected~ with it.

I used to like it when I was younger, but then I watched it in a non-dubbed version and realized a lot of stuff had a very different meaning lmao and I'm pretty sure some stuff was cut (just like I watched Friends in English for the first time and a bunch of stuff was just CHANGED COMPLETELY in the dubbed version). Found it cringey when watched it as an adult.

I am very much against any commodification of sex and the people who control those kinds of industries and the way society forces other people to work in those kinds of industries, so I don’t think this movie is cute or fun or romantic. I think it’s fucking terrible.

Vivian: the first time I slept with a man for money, I cried the entire time

Gere’s character, whose name I genuinely cannot remember: oh that’s sad… well let me continue paying you for sex, since you don’t cry with me

Romantic 🥰

Yeah I watched this movie recently for the first time and Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are both gorgeous but the plot is straight up that he hires her as a prostitute, keeps paying her throughout the movie, offers to have her as a kept woman at the end, and then finally everything wraps up in a bow because he apologises and says he'll have a real relationship with her?

Like at no point is there even a basic attempt to be subversive, eg: when he first meets her and finds her charming they don't sleep together and then eventually they only do when they have feelings. It seems like it's going that way and then you're like, oh, nope, he's just paid her for a BJ.
