Has a single Republican campaign ever licensed or gotten permission to use a song ahead of time? It feels like every mainstream song they play at an event gains attentions and gets them hit with a C&D, so they move on to the next.

I think there is some weird loophole regarding the music being used at a physical place like an arena as opposed to a specific event. But I’m not a licensing/copywrite expert, so I could be wrong.

I was reading a story (sorry no link) in regard to the Foo Fighters that the event space had paid for permission to use one of their songs. The band put out a statement they were unaware it was for a 45 rally, and the money they got from the use of the song would go to the Harris campaign.

From my limited experience playing in venues, it probably has 0% to do with the artist and 100% to do with ASCAP and the venue's agreement with them

Someone said the union needs to go after him for using all this unauthorized music, and I agree with that. It shouldn't just be artist by artist at this point.
