Has he previously mentioned being autistic before? or did he make up this up as a cover?

If I recall correctly, he first disclosed he has autism in the weeks/months leading up to the first podcast dropping, during which time he would have been aware about the podcast being produced (since they reached out to him for his side of the story). Based off everything I’ve read (but cannot cite at this time), it feels as though he was trying to publicly tee up a potential excuse for what he knew was coming.

A post was made on the sandman subreddit 2 months ago asking if a character is autistic and, from the search engine results, you can see someone responded to it saying Neil had a late diagnosis of autism, but the post has since been deleted by the moderator(s).

ETA according to this forum, the Tumblr post was the first time he mentioned it: https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=419458 One of the replies says he's not someone they would have suspected had autism lol. Well...

i don't remember if he's officially made a statement, but for years his tumblr has sort of implied it and he seems like he's at least friendly/resonates with chuck tingle who made an actual statement about it
