Netflix seems to have a lot of true crime content coming out. I thought it was going to be a documentary thing but apparently not.

Mmm no thank you. It’s weird how much I remember the media circus around this case since I think I was maybe only 5 or 6? I remember the Beverly D’Angelo/Edward James Olmos miniseries and the SNL sketch where John Malkovich and Rob Schneider played the brothers and they were just sobbing the whole time.

Part of me wants to listen to/read more recent support of their innocence but it is so saturated that I 1) wouldn’t know where to start 2) who is reputable and not just trying to cash in on this and true crime in general?

Kind of like this show, this brief preview already looks like trash.

I can say with confidence that I don't know what really happened or about any new developments... but the TV movie with Edward James Olmos is very melodramatic & entertaining.

if it's the one i'm thinking of, the scene where lyle gets his toupee ripped off lives rent free in my head

there was a documentary made last year I think that a former Menudo member came forward saying that he was abused by Jose as well
I'd also recommend watching the Law & Order series made about them a few years ago, it was pretty good

Ryan Murphy needs to stay away from true crime. He's only going to sensationalize things and make salacious subtext that makes people speculate about real people, which is not ok.

I guess, I might watch. But I will need to be spoiled first and know FOR SURE that the parents are the monsters in the title.

I always forget I can't read YouTube comments about stuff like this (old, well known, popular, etc.) because the crazies are already there and perched.

YouTube comments were actually getting better for a while (or better filtered?) but they are back to being absolutely unhinged again.
