this is a great response. i'm glad he mentioned palestine and congo too because it's important to realize there are multiple ongoing genocides and war cimes currently happening around the world. i sometimes worry that people can only pay attention to one crisis at a time. there's a lot of focus on palestine, which is good, but i worry people get overwhelmed and forget about what's happening in sudan and other countries. and even then people bury their heads in the sand and refuse to see atrocities and war crimes happening in palestine right now, despite how heavily that violence has been documented

This is actually such a great statement, well done Macklemore.

He continues to be a good egg.

What upsets me is that - besides the very obvious tragedy of millions of people suffering in each of the places he mentioned - he also has to lose our money for having a heart. Meanwhile politicians and other artists (some who are damn near billionaires) continue to perform in places that are oppressing people.

It’s such a sad fucking reality that among the thousands of religions out there preaching morality and goodness, you actually can’t get much in life if you have standards and compassion for others.
