Going to piggy back on this and say MASSIVE shoutout to whoever helped him draft this statement. I work in government and this hits every requirement we have for statements on contentious issues:
-concise yet informative (not drowning you in figures/data but provides quotable facts),
-layouts how they came to this decision and acknowledges it was a process,
-keeps the "voice" of the poster so it doesn't read like a PR statement, and
-non-judgmental but provides actionable solutions.
Seriously, A+. Also so happy Macklemore was willing to listen, it's amazing to me how resistant normally empathetic people can get when it's something that involves their paycheque.
