The rumors of the second season only going up to Drum Island upsets me. Please adapt all of Alabasta here dammit. I already knew they weren’t making it to the time skip, but they not getting to Water 7 at this pace.
I've never seen the anime other than the first few eps I've watched out of curiosity after seeing the Netflix version, so all this character discourse is lost on me but the live-action had no right to be so damn good. It's clear that everyone involved absolutely loves the source material and is giving their all to do it justice. I'm so glad we have an adaptation that's staying true to the OG tone instead of making everything dark/edgy/realistic, blegh.
I loved the live action so much it got me to check out the anime too. If you don't mind sailing the high seas, there is a fan edit called One Pace where they have cut a lot of the filler and edited episodes together to make them longer, which makes for a more enjoyable experience. There are better arcs and worse arcs, e.g. aside from the introduction of the fantabulous Mr 2 Bon Kurei, I found Arabasta (the first big arc) pretty tedious, but then it was followed by Skypiea and Water 7 which are amazing.
It's such a great show, I love how colorful and fun and creative all the characters are. It does have a very "teenage boy"/shonen vibe at times (sexy girls in peril etc), but the exuberance is such a joy to watch I don't care. One of the best post-COVID TV discoveries for me. I wish more shows would embrace unashamedly noble and optimistic characters. Grimdark is so boring.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Katey Sagal as Doctorine was too much (she's perf) but ooh wow, I didn't think Cobra was hot (I am a Pell girl) but LORDT Sendhil is so hot
EDIT: Other than my homegirl *ahem* Miss All Sunday, I'm dying to see who is Bon Clay. Bon Clay is probably my favorite non-Straw Hat!
