Strange Darling looks cool. I love Kyle Gallner. Dinner in America is one of my favorite recent indies.

Has anyone watched Didi? I want to support Joan Chen but I want to know the cringe factor (which I assume will be high since we're talking about a coming-of-age movie about a 13yo boy)

I saw it - it was fine, but she is by far the best part! It's definitely cringy as hell, but nothing I couldn't handle, and I am sensitive to that kind of stuff.

i just saw it last night and enjoyed it! there are some cringy moments but it's not too crass if that's what you're worried about. and ia, Joan Chen was the best part of the movie.

oh, i don't really care if it's crass, but i'm not so sure i could live through the secondhand embarrassment that comes with middle schoolers being cringy.

i saw a reddit comment saying that the movie made them cringe a lot, which is a hallmark of a good coming-of-age film lmfao. and i can't disagree but it also made me wonder, how much cringe are we talking about??

i got to the phantom menace in my star wars rewatch. it was always my least favourite of the 6 sw movies that existed when i was younger and… that has not changed much! the last time i rewatched it was actually before the force awakens came out so we’ll see where it lands on my final list, but woof, that script. the duel of the fates sequence still rules though obviously.

a 1920s theatre got restored here recently and started a summer series, so i’m seeing the princess bride there tomorrow. i’ve never seen a movie in that theatre and i’ve never seen that movie itself in a theatre, so i’m amped. it looks so pretty on the inside that it should be great vibes.

I like Bill and I love twigs, but I cannot sanction this remake. Especially because it's Rupert Sanders??? When has he ever made anything worth a damn??

Going out of town tomorrow, so I'm seeing Strange Darling tonight because I just couldn't wait, judging by everything I've heard! I hope it's more complex than just [my speculation]we're led to think he's the serial killer, but in fact SHE is!

Might get to Blink Twice and Between the Temples when I get back if I like the buzz. How is a John Woo movie going straight to Peacock, btw?? What's happening to theaters?!

Wow I had no idea John Woo was doing a remake of his own film and seriously, what amazing casting choices! And the soundtrack! Little Simz in a Trailer? Amazing. I can't wait to watch it!

Also, is it me or does the trailer for Between the Temples look a bit grainy and out of focus? I'm sure it's a stylistic choice but it was so strange watching it next to the other trailers that are sharply in focus and bright and modern looking. I don't know, it looks to be 16mm... But I don't quite get that choice with this project. It's kinda distracting versus adding to what's happening, in my opinion. I get so tired of pointless bro-y film nerd choices.

I know I'm VERY curious about The Killer - I loved the original so much.
