Ugh. This suuuuuucks.

Also reinforces my belief I should only watch Kdramas because they’re (almost) always meant to be limited series so I can’t be disappointed by cancellations.

Noooo what the heck, it had such an interesting story. I hate Disney for pandering to the bigots of the fandom who were hiding behind the ~bad writing~ lies. Absolutely shameful. They are doing the most to The Skeleton Crew too, not understanding that not everything created should be targeted at the same audience, there are many fans, many different target audiences, not everything is for the pos neckbeards, wait for your favorite andor ffs, it has everything you love - a bunch of white people with long monologs explaining the plot to you like you're 12 years old. 🙄
Guess now we're going to get the continuation in the books. If they even let it happen apart from the already announced ones.
This is seriously upsetting.

I've never seen this show and I'm sad it was cancelled for the people in it and those who loved it, but this a weird criticism of Andor?

Because it's tone is very different from the other SW shows, that felt more childish (and filled with cheap nostalgia). To me, the target audience for The Mandalorian is not the same for Andor. Is no wonder many people who watch the general public found it boring. It even looked different (not being filmed in the egg or whatever that technology is called ( ... )

What you just said about Diego happened in Rogue One when Gareth Edwards specifically went to meet him because he wanted him in the movie, while your fave showrunner said he felt he needed to ~explain~ why he had the accent, and then put all the toxic stereotypes on him. If the casting was up to Gilroy, Cassian would be played by Matt Damon.
And all the "complex" topics are not so complex for those who read and consume information other than tiktok. There was nothing revolutionary about it, all these topics are already in Star Wars, they are just not in the form of long ass monologs to explicitly make it seen for those who can't keep two thoughts in their head at the same time.

I agree the themes in Andor are not new to Star Wars, but I think the writing on Andor is more sophisticated and considered than on any other SW Disney+ show by a wide margin.

I think Disney did Gareth Edwards dirty and I don't love all of the retconning Tony Gilroy has done, but saying that the dialogue is for "those who can't keep two thoughts in their head at the same time" seems harsh? It's not exactly The Wire, but compared to shows like Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett it might as well be lol.

And I've never gotten the impression that Cassian is a stereotype - I think he's a pretty complex and layered character, especially by SW standards. I thought Rogue One made it clear that Cassian and Jyn are basically the same, just on different timelines.
