literally it used to be a normal word for people to use

if it was said in the last 6 or so years it'd be different

iirc, the dude who played Brody 'Rachel's LI in s4) on glee got fired after using that word on twitter, which was in 2012.

Nah, only ignorant people. It was always a bad word to use but ignorant people hadn't learned yet so they thought it was okay simply because "everyone was doing it". Not a good reason to use a word.

That's fair, just saying people did know better back then and ignorance is only a defence if you regret using it in a stupid, offensive way.

It was offensive 10 years ago.

Guess what? Gays still call one another the F slur...doesn't mean it's ok in general. Same with the N word for Black folks. All of these words were always offensive and considered bad. Y'all just liked saying them.

What word do people think was used back in the early 2000s??

Transexual.

The appropriate term was Transexual in the 90s,as is explained in the hit film

" To wong foo thanks for everything Julie Newman"

Also talk shows like Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue (may he RIP) talked about the subject to millions of viewers daily.

The world didn't start with social
media.
