Just to add something in her defence, if everything we've heard about the Olympic villages is true, you have to consider that these athletes are screwing like rabbits, so I can see why no fresh sheets might become a dire issue after just a couple of days.

This week I told the guy I’m sorta seeing I was busy because I didn’t feel like vacuuming the cat hair off my sheets. So I feel you.

Though I would look at that village with the expectations of a mid hotel, so it doesn't matter how filthy I am at home, I'd want fresh sheets and sufficient toiletries during the stay.

Guess I'm filthy cause I change my sheet every two weeks
but also the trend in many European hotels right now (that was also applied to the village) is to encourage the guests to be more mindful of their waste/expense

I've been staying in Vienna, and Majorca this year (bu it was the same when we ent to Berlin) and we had notes about how the gest have to request a change of towels and bed sheets as to not waste as much water.
I don't need fresh sheets every day, this is ridiculous and wasteful

Same. All the hotels I've been to in Europe recently made it clear upon check-in that if we wanted our sheets to be changed, we must request it, it's not automatically done.

For towels they had various different systems.

Yep it's getting common here. If you want new towels you must put the "used" ones on a specific space and if you want your sheet change you must let them know.

As a Brazilian whenever I think about all the bullshit the French pulled out for the Olympics makes me angry, because if we did 1/50 of their mistakes and bullshitery we would have been torn to shreds. Fuck it, we WERE attacked by the global north media by any and every reason imagined.

Preach! They’re ready to call us dirty for anything but the French can have athletes swimming in shit and complaining about it is being precious.

that sounds pretty normal, no? i think i read that most athletes didn't even stay there two weeks, the majority of them either moved into a hotel or went home when their events were finished.
