When I was a kid our cat very intentionally (as we realized later) ran away when we were in the countryside during my parents' summer vacation and were packing to go back to the city because she didn't want to leave. We stayed for two more days to wait for her, went through all possible locations and the forest, but couldn't find her, almost went crazy. My mom had to go back to work so dad drove us to the city and went back with my sister but still couldn't find her. We went back a week later again and she was sitting in front of the fence waiting for us with a very annoyed expression. Turns out this asshole spent most of the time terrorizing one of our neighbors' dogs sleeping in his place and eating his food lmfao, they caught her in action accidentally. She usually hunted so tbh it wasn't like she couldn't find food, we were worried something happened to her because she seemingly disappeared without a trace (and she was on the same street the whole time!!!). Well, being alone for so long sucked apparently and she never did that
