Head arbitrator who ruled in favor of Romania in case that led to US gymnast Jordan Chiles losing Olympic bronze medal works for Romania. https://t.co/uA6ziOdYQf via @NYTimes - tariq panja (@tariqpanja) August 13, 2024
I guess in two years Jordan will get her bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics and the circle will be complete (referring to the US and Japan figure skating teams getting their medals in Paris after two years, not the situation that caused that)
Olympic athletes everywhere need to riot over this. This sets an absolutely horrible precedence and could put any of their medals at risk in the future. You now get no guarantee that going through the medal ceremony means anything, and they could strip you of your medal and stand by that decision even in the face of irrefutable proof.
This is all so corrupt. I m so mad about this. I saw Jordan's mom post about all the racist abuse Jordan is getting. I'm glad that she's off of social media currently.
Also, since she has been stripped of her medal that means she won't be awarded her money ($15,000)
I think the US could still award her that money if they chose to! I believe the Romanians were planning to give Ana their bronze-medal reward money when all this started.

Have any other Olympic athletes said anything about this?

Still beyond messed up, though.
