Imma be 100% honest for a second-something about Seacrest violently gives me the ick and always has. I literally cannot imagine why anyone would want to date him and was super bummed when Kelly picked him as her cohost AND when he was announced to replace Pat Sajak (I care for my two elderly parents and spend a lot of time watching old ppl tv, don't come for me, I KNOW).

But seriously, something just feels...very uncanny valley there and I can't get past it. It's like an eldritch being wearing a human skin-suit and doing a very over the top job of Performing! Humanity! or something, I stg.

I share your instinctive ick about Seacrest. I don't really know anything about his personal life because I don't watch stuff he's in. But there's something kind of... dead behind the eyes? Like I get that his job is literally to be enthusiastic about stuff, but there's just... it's very calculated? I think that's what it is. He always seems very calculated and inauthentic to me in a way that I find unsettling.

I feel bad for both of them, her moreso. It's awful that he felt defensive because of past experiences and it's awful that she felt the need to diminish herself in this relationship. I hope she is with someone who loves her shine.
