Alfonso Cuarón recalls when he was “completely out of money” and told his collaborators that he needed to “write something but no arty shit.”

and it didn't follow the subplot from the book where the last genration of children born are treated like royalty and get away with murder

as someone tired of milleniuals getting blamed for everything i'm glad that film didn't go there

It is wild to me how Children of Men was a commercial failure where to this day, almost 20 years after it was released, is one of the most relevant films today.

i think children of men lacks commercial success bc the mirror it holds up is just too shocking for a lot of folks to look at and time passing has only made it more palpable. i mean christ, being that much of it is commentary on the UK's anti-immigration policy and xenophobic culture and there's currently almost the exact same thing happening in the UK today, 20 years since the film was released...
