When a bunch of people inevitably get sick from this, maybe even die, this picture will go down as one of the worst things we humans have ever done to each other. For the benefit of a white woman who did a silly dance https://t.co/NLqwuildUp

To be fair, no one is guaranteed not to get long covid

I don't think we should be blaming Chappell for this when clearly it's a governmental failure due to capitalism. It was the capitalist system that forced people back to work early, dropped mask mandates, and reduced isolation time from 10 days to 5 days to no days. Takes like this just make people feel like anyone taking covid seriously is unhinged.

why do so many people with long covid always make long covid their personality

maybe because having a disability can be very difficult and there are a lot of people who were able bodied before they got long covid. it's a hard adjustment to make.

i think they should be given a little -- or even a lot of -- grace.

fair point! sorry my comment came off quite hostile, ig i'm just seeing a lot of policing what other people are doing just bc one has long covid which is bizzare

Ty. I don't have long covid myself, but some folks close to me developed long covid and it's tough just watching them deal with it and being unable to help. Not only that, the medical community also can't seem to figure out how to help many of the people diagnosed with long covid.

I know you already conceded to another commenter’s point, but I also wanted to mention that on top of how distressing it is to go from being healthy to having a possibly lifelong chronic illness, it probably doesn’t help that a huge chunk of the country is still saying COVID isn’t real or that masks and vaccines are a big conspiracy.

Becoming disabled suddenly is extremely traumatising at the best of times. In my husbands case it was a hereditary condition that just happened one day and got exponentially worse over the last decade.

To see a bunch of people have total disregard for their health and play Russian roulette is terrifying especially when it's preventable. I wouldn't wish what my husband has been through on my worst enemy.

We are all living longer and that means we will ALL become disabled at some point in our lives, try to stay healthy for as long as you can.
