Truly sad. One of the last visionaries of our time. Every work has been a masterpiece imo.

Absolutely no other director has revisited their old work as successfully as Lynch - Twin Peaks the Return was a masterpiece. He's had some weaker works when the studios got involved or the idea was too big/too small for the size of media created, but you could always see the bright mind behind them. So many of his creations were perfect, however - The Elephant Man, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, etc. Wild at Heart will always be a favorite, with both Twin Peaks. A huge loss for cinema.

This is upsetting. I'm a fan of his early, more conceptual works and I hate the thought of him not working again.

Ooof, living with emphysema is incredibly rough, I feel for him. Really grateful I kicked smoking a long time ago.

Even if he never directs another frame in his life, he's left his mark in film and television - an incredible body of work. Plus this is maybe one of my favorite things ever:

That time David Lynch campaigned for Laura Dern to get an Oscar, but he didn’t have a budget so he just sat outside with a cow and a Laura Dern banner. pic.twitter.com/UDTxwwRizv

this was for her role in Inland Empire which was absolutely, totally, 100% deserved - i saw it in the theater with my father and lynch did a q&a afterwards which i can’t remember bc i was too busy trying to digest her performance.
