i don't read fanfic anymore but i support buck/eddie diaz. normally when shippers want two seemingly straight characters together i'm not really with it, but they very legitimately have chemistry. they really should have had them explore that rather than bringing in a new character for buck's gay awakening.

I more than half expect the last episode of that show to end with a scene that more than slightly insinuates that Buck and Eddie end up in a romantic relationship. I don't expect it to be explicitly canon, but I think they will feed the shippers.

They do have a lot of chemistry and I think Eddie has been such a queer-coded character from the start. I can’t wait for that no chemistry relationship of Buck’s to end so they can get together.

putting sharl with MAX? 🤢

i read ACOTAR recently, which was very meh, but since then i have been reading lots of ACOTAR fic. i haven't read fanfic in like 15+ years, idk why it's hitting the spot now.

The Dramione surge on Tiktok drove a lot of people to AO3 who weren't previously fanfic readers.

I have never read HP fanfic in my life, not even before JKR really started showing her bigotry, but Jegulus is such a weird phenomenon literally where did that even come from??

The tl;dr is that a terrible, racist fic called All the Young Dudes blew up on Tiktok, which caused The Youth, many of whom haven't read the books, to get into fic about Harry's bully dad and all his little friends. There was already a somewhat popular fancast of Timothée Chalamet as Regulus, which caused the character to skyrocket in popularity, partly because Tiktok loves Slytherins/bad boys and partly because he is "hot" (Regulus is explicitly not hot in the books). People obviously wanted someone to ship him with, and they settled on James by default. Then someone wrote a big fic akin to All the Young Dudes but even more racist and with Jegulus in it and someone else wrote a Hunger Games retelling with the characters where they're all 25 for some reason, and both also blew up on Tiktok ( ... )

THANK YOU so much for an actual explanation. That's insane tbh? I've been in the Les Mis fandom so I've seen a couple interesting pairings formed by sheer fanon power alone, but nothing to this extent.

Omg I don't read HP fanfic regularly but occasionally read a fic and couldn't figure out why Regulus was so randomly popular. Like it's been a hot ass minute since I read the original books but thought I was misremembering his role
