Hmmm... I feel like a lot of people I know aren't that invested in the new season of House of the Dragon. Not sure we need to be bombarded with more.

It is just not as good as the early GoT seasons and I think that's because early on they had a lot of book material to just adapt, but once they had to figure it out on their own they had no idea what to do.

HotD I thought would be fine because the source material was finished, but apparently Ryan Condal doesn't care about the source material and is just doing what he wants even when it makes no sense.

probably because so much of the discourse from season 1 revolved around daemon, who has spent this season [Spoiler (click to open)]hanging out in old castles with ghosts, and the daemon/rhaenyra age gap drama, which isn't a thing anymore.

even the aemond girlies on my dash aren't talking much about the show anymore. it's weird.

Yup HoTD had many viral moments centered around the cousin/niece/uncle love triangle, now that it's gone and the younger Targ incestuous love triangle isn't delivering as much drama, people have nothing to buzz about

Okay I'll watch one if it's ironborn-focused (which means I don't have to watch any of them).

Now, I'm generally more sympathetic to GRRM not getting the book out than most people but it was pointed out to me that we have not seen Samwell Tarly since the Bush administration and that's a fact that now lives rent-free in my head because it's wild.

I remember being so excited when A Dance with Dragons came out. That was 2011, the same year that the first Captain America movie, the last Harry Potter movie, and the game Minecraft came out.

2011 feels like a completely different lifetime. It's crazy how much of the world has changed since then.
