Proud of Abbott Elementary for all of its Emmy nominations this year, especially Outstanding Comedy series as we are definitely a program where the majority of the running time of at least 6 episodes are primarily comedic, as defined by the TV Academy ☺️

I mean i'm all for Ayo getting Emmys but this is not the way to do it.

I really just hope that one of the Martins wins Lead Actor in a Comedy this year, but i doubt it.

Who decides what category The Bear is in?

If it's the Emmy's or other awards bodies then it's on them.

If it's the actual show then it's still on the awards bodies as they should have the final say "you think this is a comedy yeah right" then it's on them (Emmy's) as well.

It's FX (the channel) that submits the show as a comedy
The TV academy is the only one that could reject this submission

my fave’s name keeps getting bandied about here so let me say: Barry was committed to its visual comedy in a way that makes it more of a comedy at the end of the day than The Bear

Barry stayed making me laugh all four seasons!

The first two season of Barry mixed comedy and drama in a way I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show do they were amazing. The third ok, it was starting to stretch be able to be defined as a comedy and the fourth was just straight up a stressful drama. The only laugh I remember having was the cut to Hank in the most ridiculous hat and outfit lol it’s actually really sad that actor never won an Emmy because he did such wonderful work with the character of Hank

I watched season 1 of the Bear and while it has some comedic moments, it's more of a drama, his cousin is the funniest part of the show but one funny character does not a comedy make
