Nicolas Cage shares a memory from when he was 2 that inspired his #Longlegs role. “My mom put on Noxzema cold cream…For no reason, she turned her face really fast and stared at me…The whiteness of the cold cream just really spooked me.” https://t.co/HJW0L9wkaJ

I feel like this character worked much better when he was off-camera or just slightly out of frame in a creepy way. Once we fully saw & heard him, I just couldn't unsee the Cage of it all. Which is a shame, bc the other scenes were VERY effectively creepy. Legally Blonde David is a master of atmosphere.

He made people laugh at my cinema, including myself.

Once they showed him entirely, I honestly couldn’t stop laughing. He wasn’t scary- creepy yes- but idk something about it was just so ridiculous

the opening scene scared the SHIT out of me, but ia once he was fully in frame/more central to the on-screen story it was hard not to laugh.

I'm seeing this Tuesday and SO excited, but I need to stay off Twitter/skim posts about this because it's being spoiled so hard

Bad movie. “Modern day Silence of the Lambs”, my arse.

I think Perkins has said something about basing one of the “bad” characters on his own mother. It sounds like these 2 need to see a therapist over their moms.

Finding out his mother was one of the plane passengers that hit the World Trade Center floored me. Between that and having Anthony Perkins as his dad…just a lot of massive cultural moments there to happen to one family

watched this yesterday! Really liked it, but i feel like there's going to be some backlash or disappointment because [Spoiler (click to open)]even though the marketing kicked ass, I feel like people are going in expecting a super jump scary type of movie because of all of the "scariest movie of all time" quotes they were pushing. But it was more of an anxiety, dread filled experience lol. There were some scary moments, but it was mostly very dark/heavy vibes.

also this may be controversial but I kind of thought Nicolas Cage was one of the weakest parts of the movie? [Spoiler (click to open)] Maybe because they immediately revealed his character. I think it would have been scarier/creepier if they hid him a bit more.

I'm not seeing enough praise for Blair Underwood tbh! He did a lot with what he was given and there were a lot of gasps [Spoiler (click to open)]and several people said "oh no!" out loud at my screening when it was revealed that Maika Monroe's character got to his house too late

I think once they fully revealed him, his screen time went so quick.

he was great, and i didn't like the ending more generally (i felt like it punctured the first hour, which was really effective to me, and was clunky and overexplained) but i did find him and his wife being possessed to be very chilling and unsettling.

I actually kind of loved that the opening titles just straight-up say "Nicolas Cage as Longlegs," no reason to pretend that this hugely famous name isn't playing the title villain. But yes, I was a little disappointed that [Spoiler (click to open)]we met him face-to-face and got so much clear info, as well as the huge exposition dump at the end. (Though tbh I needed it bc those dolls had me confused.)

Saw it last night. It was okay. Not amazing like so many people were saying, but it wasn’t completely awful either. I wish it had been a tad bit longer. It wasn’t super scary- just creepy. Cage was creepy but I wasn’t “shitting my pants scared”. I know it probably wasn’t meant to be funny, but some of the shit he did made me laugh. But I think it’s just normal for me to do when he plays these crazy characters and has meltdowns.

I would probably pay to see a prequel or something about his character too….
