George Clooney urges Joe Biden to step down as the 2024 Democratic nominee for president in a new op-ed:

“We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate. This isn’t only my opinion; this is the… pic.twitter.com/EArMreTtMk

More like standing there with all the charm of a malfunctioning animatronic, frozen with an empty smile and utterly blank gaze before randomly starting to stumble through a tangent about some completely unrelated topic that trails off about 1/3 of the way through.

Animatronic is right on the money. I was watching him talking to Keir Starmer and the atmosphere was painful

People don't get that this is not something that can be done. Biden's won enough primaries to be the nominee and he's already said he's staying in.

I know people like to act like the primaries didn't count but they happened. Like even when whatever state didn't have Biden on the ballot his supporters literally did a write-in ballot so he wouldn't be embarrassed by that other forgettable guy.

Even the protest votes because of gaza hovered around 10%.

I know he's old as fuck but it's him or Harris. They were elected by the people. 🤷🏻‍♀️

that would be my state and it was fucking pathetic.

but apparently, primaries are not legally binding under current DNC charter.

Then let it be Harris!

It's crazy how long the US election campaign last. Here in the UK is was six weeks and honestly, that was more than enough.

Not only how long it lasts but how much money they spend on it. Something like 15 billion.
Absolute insanity.

I'm very VERY skeptical of mainstream media suddenly jumping on the "Joe Biden needs to drop out" train as if he magically turned 81 overnight and hadn't been like this since before the primary.

And not reporting at all about Trump and the verbal diarrhea coming out of his mouth.

It's because we've reached a point of no return with that debate performance, they can't deny the obvious mental decline anymore.

My personal thoughts on Biden aside, I really do not give 2 shits what George Clooney has to say about his candidacy, and it’s ridiculous this has been a top story all day.

Sadly, more people will listen to Clooney than another politician or political spin doctor.

I know little about him other than mums love him and he’s mates with Pitt (ew). Why should we not listen to him? (Not starting anything, genuinely curious.)

It’s less about Clooney himself and more annoyance at a celebrity’s statement on the election being breaking news all day on most news sites. I know he’s known as a more “politically active” celeb and he’s married to Amal, but the media is making his statement into such a big deal just because he’s George Clooney.

I’m just annoyed that any time any rando decides to give his 2 cents on Biden’s candidacy it’s reported as major news when there’s so many more important things we should be reporting on, such as the ongoing genocide and Trump and Project 2025.

(Hope this reply isn’t coming across as confrontational. I’m just sick of the way the media has been reporting on basically everything since the debate.)
