Alec Baldwin appears in court ahead of involuntary manslaughter trial

To convict Alec Baldwin, the jury must find that he acted with “willful disregard” for safety - that is, that he knew what he was doing was dangerous, and did it anyway.

The fact that he isn't getting charged as a producer is straight bs. This judge clearly just doesn't understand what the title means and doesn't want to "confuse the jurors". Lame.

TBH the only way to get him convicted as an actor is to bring in a bunch of expert witnesses, show some of the videos of other actors explaining usual protocol, or even submit the safety bulletin. It'll be harder to get people to understand the actor should be the last in a three step checking process. Most people think actors just do what they're told.

The way this man has avoided any responsibility for Halyna's death is truly fucking disgusting. If anyone has ever had any doubt that Alec Baldwin is a pos, his behavior during all of this has been very telling and only proves how little he cares about what happened and how it affected Halyna's family. A truly sick man.

Every now and then my sister sees him in NYC and it’s wild to me that he’s just walking around having shot and killed somebody.

Previously I was confused as to how he could ever be found guilty (surely all this was down to the armorer). But if he wasn’t upholding safe standards… maybe he could be. Although I’d think the prosecution would have more luck if they were able to try him as a producer rather than just as an actor in all this.

It's mad how quickly all sympathy evaporated for him after this happened when people thought he must feel awful because of how he's acted since.

Maybe somebody who's more into the legal niceties can explain the decision to rule his producer status irrelevant - the corners cut and poor hiring choices etc seem like pretty serious context for the negligence surrounding the actual death, it surprises me that the court would handwave it.
