I can’t tell from the picture but sometimes on shorter European flights first or business will be coach seats with the middle seat taped off. I’m guessing her private flight was canceled for maintenance issues or something and this was the best they could do short notice.

yup, having flown KLM this is exactly what it is.

including the middle seat being free - that's how business class is set up on intercity flights, or at least has been since covid.

It's exactly that on most European short haul flights. Most of them don't even have a first class, it's just business vs economy and the only difference in the actual seats is that in business the middle seat is kept free.
