I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion but I could see Jon Hamm as Sam. Not the way Rob played it, but they'd change/shift the character to align more with Jon Hamm's vibes. But then that would change the whole chemistry with the other characters.

In the same breath, I don't see Rob Lowe as Don at all. As much as Matthew Weiner annoys me, his reasoning is what I would have thought as well.

Rob Lowe is a dick but Sam was actually such a good ingredient in the ensemble. If he could have just kept his shit together - what could have been. I wonder which way the show would have gone had he have stayed.
