I didn't mind the change from the book, but I didn't like how they spent all of the season making a point out of real love not always having to feel like that and that love can look different for different people, and then just bam, nevermind.

Yep - I thought Francesca and Johns story was the most interesting part of season 3 and they had great chemistry. Also the fact it seems totally like bi erasure

Yeah I don’t mind that it’s Michaela instead of Michael, but I liked that Francesca and John really do love each other and that Fran doesn’t see Michael/Michaela that way at first. Her reacting so strongly to her, and also seemingly having a mixed reaction to kissing John at their wedding was meh to me.

I just don’t get it. A lot of the fandom wanted Eloise to be a lesbian, especially because her book storyline is so horrible. Francesca’s storyline was the most unique and the one they should’ve adapted faithfully imo. People saying that this doesn’t have to change anything about the storyline are wrong, it changes everything.

There are so many reasons why people can grow up feeling different, it’s not always about their sexuality.

Eloise would have made sense to me because he storyline is universally hated and I was hoping it would mean [Spoiler (click to open)]Marina might not die and be somewhat happy in the end. I really thought they were aiming for something with Eloise and Cressida, but alas.

Having thought on this a bit, I wonder if they just didn't expect the fandom to be gunning for Eloise as the queer sibling and by the time they saw the reaction, it was too late because Sir Philip was already locked in and too late to gender bend him. I know they're pretty willing to rewrite book stuff and add new elements, but I don't know that they'd dare go "to hell with a main pairing, we're going totally rogue"

I feel like with how Eloise was written in the first series surely they would have realised people wouldn't be content with her storyline. Then they played into it further in series 2 so even if they did write themselves into a corner they could have downplayed it in series 2.

I hated that they made John and Francesca so cute and then did that at the end. I liked the idea that they had a quiet love story and how love didn't need to be like that only to completely undermine that sentiment.

It would have been better for Michaela to immediately react instead of Francesca. If it was going to be the way they went, they should have waited until her season to discuss that.

The series was fine as a whole but that really soured my enjoyment of it.

I'm excited, I really liked Francesca this season and I'm curious to see her storyline progress.

The writing was pretty bad this season but if we're going to have bad writing they can at least give me wlw and hot women.
